Introduction

Welcome!

I'm Jamie McFarlane aka Jim Greenwood, science fiction writer at night and software developer during the day. Currently, all of my novels are only available on Amazon via KDP. The problem I ran into is that the reports from Amazon, while interesting, don't give me a very good picture of how my books are doing. Unlike larger authors, I can't afford to hire someone to do analytics for me so I decided to build a tool that would give me the information I care to see.

Q. How does the tool work?
A. I like simple ideas. You simply upload your workbooks to the website and I'll parse them into a database and turn them into charts that you can view.

Q. Does this violate my agreement with Amazon?
A. I'm not a lawyer, but I don't believe so. As Amazon authors, we can't share our publishing data with anyone. On kdp Charts, you retain ownership of your data. I won't sell or publish this data to anyone else. If you want to remove your data, you simply delete it and it's gone.

Q. How much does it cost?
A. Nothing yet. Ideally, I'd like to get $2.50/month but for now, we just don't have enough functionality to charge. Ultimately, this will be a function of how much it costs for me to host this site.

Q. Can I upload non-amazon data?
A. Not right now. If there is enough interest, we might head down that path.

Q. Where can I get some help?
A. I've set up a forum, you can register there and post your questions. Link is: http://kdp-charts.74310.x6.nabble.com

Q. I'd like to try it out. Where can I go?
